S. Beaux Jones

Steven “Beaux” Jones joined Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer in 2017 as an associate after working as an assistant attorney general for the Louisiana Department of Justice, where he served as environmental section chief. His practice is based in litigation and administrative matters, focusing on environmental, coastal, and oil and gas law.

Beaux has argued cases at every level of state and federal court in Louisiana. He has also handled matters before the U.S. 6th Circuit and the D.C. Circuit courts of appeal. While with the State of Louisiana, Beaux advised and represented numerous state agencies, including the Department of Natural Resources (LDNR), the Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ), the Office of Conservation, the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP).

Beaux is originally from Ruston, LA. He received his law degree from the LSU Law Center and his B.A. from Davidson College where he was a captain of the football team and the Southern Conference Champion in the javelin throw. He is also a former fellow in the Loyola University Institute for Environmental Communication and currently serves as treasurer for the Louisiana State Bar Association – Environmental Section.
