Neal Maker

NEAL MAKER grew up in Calais, Vermont and has has always been deeply invested in the landscape of the Northeast. He spent his childhood exploring the same family woodlot where he now lives with his wife and three kids. Neal earned a master’s degree in forest management from SUNY-ESF in Syracuse, New York, and a bachelor’s in environmental science from Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina. Neal has professional experience in both forestry and land conservation and has published research on forest biometrics and policy analysis. He is currently enrolled in the Harvard Professional Certificate Program in data science and is actively collaborating on research integrating forest growth models and long-term regional market data.  In addition to being a Vermont Licensed Forester, Neal serves on the Calais Conservation Commission and as the town's Tree Warden.
