Richland Soil and Water Conservation District

The Richland Soil and Water Conservation District (District) promotes the wise use of natural resources for the benefit of the citizens of Richland County.  Conservation Districts are political subdivisions of state government under the local direction of a five-member Board of Commissioners.  Three Commissioners are elected in the General Election; two are appointed by the SC Department of Natural Resources.  These Commissioners volunteer their time and services to help improve natural resources conservation.   There are 46 conservation districts in SC whose jurisdictions conform to county boundaries.  Use the links below or at the right to learn more about our programs.

Conservation Districts bring together all available technical, financial and education resources and coordinates them so that they meet the needs of the local land user for conservation of soil, water and related natural resources.

Conservation Districts are a subdivision of state government in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service. Conservation Districts consist of a board of five commissioners - three elected in the general election and two appointed by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. Commissioners volunteer their time, talents, and services to help improve natural resource awareness.
