The Healthy Forests Restoration Act, passed by Congress and signed into law in 2003, provides incentives for communities to engage in local forest planning and hazardous fuels management planning. In order for communities to take full advantage of this opportunity, a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) must first be completed.
