Champaign County Soil and Water Conservation District

CCSWCD Policy Statement:
"Whereas, natural resources of Champaign County are basic assets of the county and their preservation is necessary for the economic and social well being of its citizens, it is the policy of the Champaign County Soil and Water Conservation District to provide leadership and coordinate programs to help people conserve, improve, and sustain our natural resources." 

Definitions and Powers of Soil and Water Conservation Districts:
The Champaign County Soil and Water Conservation District is a local unit of government which has been in existence since 1943.  It is governed by a five person board of directors, elected by landowners and land occupants within the District.  The Directors, themselves landowners or land occupants, are given the responsibility of developing and administering a comprehensive natural resource conservation plan.  The District receives its operating funds from The Illinois Department of Agriculture and the Champaign County Board.

Technical assistance is provided to the District by personnel assigned from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Soil and Water Conservation Districts are governmental subdivisions of the state and are tax exempt, as defined under Section 115 of the Internal Revenue Code.  All contributions to Soil and Water Conservation Districts are deductible, as defined in Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code. 

Our Education Services: We provide workshops, exhibits, presentations and training for the community and welcome all requests. Contact us for more information.
