  • 15 miles SW of Indio. Directions: Approx 10 miles S of Indio on Hwy 86, take trail W to Martinez Canyon.

Description:
  • 103,862 acres.
  • Vegetation consists of scrub and succulent plants.
  • This area is habitat for the largest herd of protected peninsular bighorn sheep in the U.S. A refuge and ecological reserve are adjacent to this area to protect habitat and species.
  • The golden eagle and prairie falcon can also be found here.
  • Very steep terrain.
Hunting:
  • Deer, rabbits, quail.
