Her interest in sustainable architecture was first cultivated while studying abroad in Denmark, where she was exposed to the environmental and community benefits of co-housing and architecture that treads lightly on the earth. Designing custom homes on Nantucket brought the challenge of creating architecture within a fragile ecosystem and unique historical fabric. While on the east coast, Kirsten participated in green building and solar design workshops at Yestermorrow Design/Build School. Kirsten received her Bachelor of Science in Architecture with Honors from the University of Virginia in 2004.
