Brown County Extension

Mission Statement
Brown County UW-Extension applies university research, knowledge and resources to meet the educational needs of Brown County residents.

Agriculture
Agriculture Programs extends research-based information to farmers and agri-businesses in the areas of crops and soils, dairy science, and farm management.

Community Gardens
Community Gardens offers space at a nominal fee for individuals and families to grow culturally appropriate nutritious produce. Educational opportunities are provided for individuals of all ages to gain skills in raising produce with focus on organic production.

Family Living
Family Living Program responds to community needs with research-based education through community partnerships to support Brown County individuals and families in nutrition, food safety, family financial management, and human development.

4-H Youth Development
4-H Youth Development Program provides an opportunity for youth to have fun, develop life skills, strengthen leadership capabilities to become informed and caring citizens through the completion of projects and participation in club, county, state and national events.

Horticulture
Horticulture Programs provide current research-based information to home owners, and green industry in areas of turf management, pest control, gardening, and woody ornamentals.

Nutrition Education
WNEP is a UW-Extension nutrition education program that helps low income families and individuals choose healthful diets, purchase and prepare healthful food and handle it safely, and become more food secure by spending food dollars wisely. WNEP focuses on nutrition education based on the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPyramid and improving community food security.practical research-based nutrition and financial management education to individuals and families with limited resources. Conduct local food security research and offers leadership to food security and local food issues.
