Founded in 1981, the Boscawen Conservation Commission’s mission is to protect the natural features of our town and to preserve the economic viability of open space and to encourage and promote the conservation of our cultural and historical resources for current and future citizens of Boscawen.
Examples of Commission responsibilities and activities include:
- Managing the Boscawen Town Forest (overseeing timber harvests and wildlife prescriptive cuts, developing and maintaining trails);
- Conducting outreach and recreational opportunities such as Annual Town Forest Day and Full Moon Snowshoe and Cross-country Ski Nights;
- Monitoring land conservation easements;
- Funding and conducting college and conservation camp scholarship awards competitions;
- Providing information to land owners about conservation easements and working to identify and secure grants and other funding; and
- Participating in Town planning and regulatory processes relating to the management of lands, waters, wildlife, and other natural resources.
