Battle Creek Wildlife Area - Shasta & Tehama Countieslast updated: July 2013
  • Shasta and Tehama Counties - approximately 16 miles north of Red Bluff and 1 mile west of Coleman Fish Hatchery.
Special Restrictions:
  • Public entry is allowed from 6:00 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Hunting and possession of firearms and archery equipment is prohibited.
  • Dog field trials, dog training, horseback riding and bicycles are prohibited. Dogs must be on leash and under direct owner control.
  • From Interstate 5 east through Cottonwood, take Balls Ferry Road to Ash Creek Road to Gover Road to Coleman Fish Hatchery Road.
  • Public entry is allowed from 6 am to 10 pm.
  • 582 acres of riparian forests, marshes, and oak woodland support a diverse variety of migratory and resident bird species, as well as aquatic and terrestrial mammals.
Recreational Use :
  • Hiking, birdwatching, and wildlife viewing are permitted here.
  • Bald eagles and osprey nest here in spring. Other wildlife of viewing interest are California quail, wood ducks, beaver, river otter, bobcat, and coyote.
