Win Win - Keeping the lights on, thanks to juniper

The NRCS launched its Sage Grouse Initiative (SGI) in 2010 in an effort to improve habitat for the endangered sage grouse and improve sustainability and productivity of their native rangelands. Other large scale threats facing sage grouse also affect the sustainability and productivity of grazing lands, such as the encroachment of junipers. Juniper removal has thus become an important task for farm and ranch landowners, not only to preserve an endangered species, but also to improve their grazing land.
