Sanctuary Forest is a land trust whose mission is to conserve the Mattole River watershed and surrounding areas for wildlife habitat and aesthetic, spiritual and intrinsic values, in cooperation with our diverse community.

 

Sanctuary Forest is a non-profit land trust located within the temperate rainforest of the headwaters of the Mattole River on California's northern coast. Sanctuary Forest provides permanent protection for ecologically sensitive lands, enriching the positive relationship between these lands and our communities. Our conservation efforts include the protection of old growth Douglas fir, ancient redwood groves, wildlife corridors, other precious habitat and healthy streamflows in the Mattole watershed and surrounding regions
